** Membership in the Nebraska Swordfighters Guild is by invitation only, and may be offered to students who have completed at least one course of the introductory longsword classes. Visitors are welcome to come and observe. However, participation is restricted to Guild members.

Learn to swing a sword like a 14th-century knight! In this introduction to Medieval Longsword class, you will learn about the history, use, and enjoyment of the art of the Italian longsword. The class covers basic guards, strikes and tactical concepts straight from the pages of a 607-year-old fighting manual written by one of the highest-regarded professional soldiers of his time.

General Class

Our main general curriculum class is held on Monday nights from 6:30-8:30 pm. Half of each class is spent on longsword curriculum, and the other half is spent on either abrazare or dagger. Every 6 weeks this class becomes a sparring night so we can try out the new techniques we’ve learned.

Advanced Class

This class is held on Thursday nights from 6:30-8:30 pm. It focuses on more advanced longsword techniques, drills, and other knowledge that is needed to progress in rank within the Guild. It is also a good class for those who are interested in competing in tournaments, or who simply want more longsword classes in their life.

Friday Fight Night

These sparring nights are held on the last Friday of every month from 6:30-8:30 pm. Several rings are set up, each one with a marshal to supervise bouts. You can find an opponent to spar for up to 3 minutes, practice with a specific tournament rule set, or find someone willing to give you a few pointers in a weapon the Guild doesn’t normally train with.
